    I bought a Typhur meat probe set. This was my first experience with wireless probes. I just did not like the entanglements of the wires and I wanted wifi connectivity. I got a unit that felt very premium with the base station. I charged it up and was never alerted as to when the charge was done. My charge light just kept blinking overnight. My screen appearance looked nothing like the screens for the Typhur I had seen on the UA-cam channels. I emailed a video as to what the unit was doing to Typhur and they said the software had a bug and they did not know when or if they could push a firmware update to me. I returned it to Amazon and got another Typhur. The second unit had a different set of bugs and just gave up on it and sent it back to Amazon. I think The Typhur unit is a quality piece overall, its just that the software is not fully baked. I wanted the wifi capability so I went back with the wires and got the Inkbird IBBQ-4T which has wifi capability. I really wanted the wireless unit but thought about it and the heat on the probe batteries can not be good for longevity. I honestly wonder what the lifespan is on all these wireless probes. I may go back to a wireless unit and I think Typhur will be a great unit to have once the software bugs are ironed out.

    Very nicely done. All of those things should come standard with the barrel! For those who don't understand, this is just a barrel; barrels are everywhere and they can be acquired for free!!! I own a farm and I could walk around the yard and see no less than 25 steel 55-gallon and 30-gallon barrels! As of today (6-16-2024), the 18.5" barrel is priced at: $399.99! $399.99 for a barrel! Again, the fact that these things were not included with the purchase and already installed is ridiculous! It's laughable! To make it even worse, the 22.5" is currently (6-16-2024) priced at: $499.99 and it does not come with any of these features either! A Weber 18" grill grate is currently (6-16-2024) priced at: $29.99 (Ace Hardware) and it's HINGED which would allow a person to drop more charcoal into the bottom without removing the entire grill rack to make such a simple move!!! Again, these things are laughable! These "barrels" are priced at least 60% too high!

    This video is really well made- you're the only reviewer/Kettle Pizza chef that I've seen who actually talks about the timing for cooking- i.e. turning the pizza every minute to 90 secs, bubbling indicating that it's close to done, rough estimate of 3-4 mins/pizza at 650-700F. You have great recommendations for dough, building the heat source is well discussed, very comprehensive. The best out of about five videos that I've watched, thank you!

      they do. I cannot remember the brand... they are pretty generic... but I got them at this store www.hawgeyesbbq.com/about_us/ looks like they do not have them online, but they might have them at the store? I purchased them in person. They are on the short side, but I love them.

    Does the bottom burner work ok? I had the Witt Rotante and the bottom burner broke. This is basically the exact same pizza oven.

    Great to have you back. The oven looks okay but I haven't seen any pizza oven as good as the Blackstone. Hear me out. First, mine will be ten years old this July. I've had 2 problems; squeaking and a dead motor. The squeaking was easily fixed by adding a thrust bearing. The motor was simply replaced because it's driven by a rotisserie motor! The new units are difficult to assemble from what I've read but I believe that is mostly the cart. I threw my cart away and put the oven on a home-made simple rolling wooden cart with doors. It is the way it cooks that makes it so effective. It uses a single burner (like on a turkey fryer) with part of the flame traveling under the lower stone and part going up and across the upper stone. The lower stone sits in a cast iron plate that is rotated from below by the motor. The stone is 16 1/2 inches in diameter so it can actually hold a 16 inch pie. The oven can easily go over 900 but I, like you, make pies that cook better at about 600 - 650. This is reached in abbout 15 minutes. The rotation forces 100% even cooking even if the dough is way off center. You never have to touch the pie while it cooks. Mine (14 -15 inch NY style) are done in ~4 minutes. Recovery time to cook the next pie is under 1 minute. You can bake pies continually for as long as you want. Get Blackstone to send you one and we'll see if it is still great. Thanks, Keegan.

      10 years... now that is a long lasting oven there. Glad its worked out for you. Part of me like the idea of the rotating stone, and then part of me thinks it is over complicating an age old process. There are a bunch of good ovens out there these days... so many to choose from. Either way... as long as you are cooking... that's the real deal. Thanks for your support!

    Just a quick question on your plans for the L & XL kitchen. I see that it's over 10ft how easily can I convert to a shorter table? I'm looking 8 1/2 to 9 ft. I know this will throw the cabinets off, thanks!!

      So, if you watched the video, you can see there were essentially 3 cabinet boxes made, with the two eggs sandwiched between them. The easiest thing to do, is to reduce those cabinet widths. You could make the one in the middle 18" and then the other ones 12", which would shave off 18" I think? But... I would attack it that way... shave off X amount from each cabinet.

      I would not use that as a hard and fast rule. I use olive oil on chicken, fish, and steaks on the grill all the time.

      sure... apple cider vinegar would be a good one. you could try red wine vinegar. just go easy on it. you could also use a squeeze of lemon.

    Ambient temps with wireless probes have and will always be the issue. That is the one thing that wired probes have the advantage

      if you have the two probe setup, you could just place one of the probes on the grate for the ambient., so its not influenced by the meat proximity

      @@Searedandsmoked Only for low temp cooks. The internal sensors are not rated for higher ambient temps
